Sunday — river loop, the long way round

52 km · 320 m elev avg 23 km/h 4 riders · 1 puncture · 2 coffees

Forecast had said north-westerly 30, which would have made the outbound leg unhappy. By the time we rolled out the actual wind was a polite 12 from the south, which is a different ride altogether. We took the long route past the quarry instead of the direct one along the main road.

D punctured at the foot of the descent. Repaired in the car park of the second pub down. He swears it was the same nail he picked up two weeks ago, which is geometrically improbable but we let him have it.

Coffee stop at the bakery in the village; they had three of the cardamom buns left, which is two more than we'd expected after ten o'clock. Came back the way we came. Tailwind held.

Next week: same time, same place, weather permitting. R is threatening to lead a hill route. We will see.
